Characteristics
Ecology
There are many difficult-to-identify species with different ecology among the yellow coral fungi. They often grow in older stands with a long tree continuity, in old-growth forests that have never previously been clear-cut.
Notes
Yellow coral fungi are no longer recommended as edible mushrooms because the risk of confusion with similar inedible species is high. No dangerous organ-damaging toxins are known in the species of the genus, but some are regarded as mildly poisonous and can cause nausea.
Similar species
Learning to distinguish between different yellow Ramaria species can take a lifetime.
