Characteristics

- Cap convex to expanded, reddish-brown to yellow-brown, often with a sulcate-ribbed cap margin.
- Gills adnexed to adnate, yellowish-white, soon brown-spotted with age.
- Stem brown with a yellowish tinge.
- Flesh white to yellowish-white, yellow in the stem base.
- Smell and taste farinaceous.

Ecology

Grows with birch in deciduous and mixed woodland throughout the Nordic region.

Notes

Reported as edible in some mushroom literature, but generally not a recommended edible mushroom.

Similar species

No other brown Tricholoma species have yellow-coloured stem flesh.
