Ecology
Grows on lawns, meadows, and pastures, preferably on horse-grazed areas. It can grow in large so-called fairy rings, often visible from a distance as the grass there is darker green.
Notes
A good edible mushroom.
Similar species
There are several similar Agaricus species, but none of them are dangerously poisonous. Agaricus xanthodermus can cause nausea, it yellows in the flesh immediately after scraping.
